Forget Heavy Metal Braces with Invisalign
Jan. 25, 2007, Los Angeles and Beverly Hills -- If you've avoided standard braces because of the cost, pain and hassle involved, it's time you checked out the popular and far more comfortable Invisaligns.
Invisaligns use a series of invisible, removable aligners to straighten your teeth. No heavy metal or easily-popped rubber bands are required. You just wear each aligner for roughly two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush and floss. With each successive aligner, your teeth move closer and closer to their final alignment.
You need only visit your cosmetic dentist once every six weeks to ensure they're progressing as desired. The entire process takes an average of nine to 15 months and generally requires a total of 18 to 30 aligners.
HOW IT WORKS
Top cosmetic dentist Dr. Anthony Mobasser will use computer-imaging technology to establish your complete treatment plan, from your mouth's initial position to its final position. These 3-D images are then used to create your custom-made series of aligners. Each is worn for about two weeks, as the teeth slowly move into line. With each aligner you'll be that much closer to your perfect smile.
Sometimes referred to as " invisible braces ," Invisalign aligners are similar in appearance to the clear, tooth-whitening trays available on the market.
You may experience some temporary and mild discomfort as you replace each new aligner, but far less than with traditional, metal braces. You may experience some small problems of speech, but this too is limited and impermanent.
COST
Although cost is always a concern with any medical treatment, the price range is similar to that of ordinary braces, ranging from $3,000 to $5,000. Fortunately, if your insurance plan covers standard braces, it will cover Invisalign.
