IN OFFICE BLEACHING

If you are a candidate for tooth bleaching, Dr. Mobasser may suggest a procedure that can be done in our offices. Chairside tooth bleaching may require only one office visit lasting one-half hour to one hour.

For this procedure, Dr. Mobasser will apply either a protective gel to your gums or a rubber shield that will protect the sensitive gum tissues. He'll then apply a bleaching agent to your teeth. A special light or a laser may be used to enhance the action of the agent.

AT-HOME TREATMENTS

There are several types of products available for use at home. Ask Dr. Mobasser for his recommendation of over-the-counter solutions.

BLEACHING SOLUTIONS

Bleaching products contain peroxide that actually bleaches your tooth enamel.

Peroxide whiteners usually come in gel form and are applied via a mouthguard. Some require application twice a day for two weeks and others may be used at night for the same period of time. Dr. Mobasser can make a custom-fitted mouthguard to precisely fit your teeth.

Talk to Dr. Mobasser about any side effects you experience, such as teeth sensitivity. This side-effect may be temporary, but it could decrease your ability to continue the program of treatment.

TOOTHPASTES

All toothpastes help remove surface discolorations through abrasion. Special toothpastes for whitening may contain chemical or polishing agents for additional impact. Unlike bleaches, these products can't change your teeth's natural shade.
